Located in Denver’s Platt Park neighborhood, this project transforms a 1950s single-story bungalow into a warm, modern two-story home designed to support the needs of a growing family. The redesign introduces a 1,300 sq. ft. second-story addition and a 300 sq. ft. rear addition, giving the family the space and functionality the original home couldn’t provide. On the main level, the layout was opened up to improve flow and sightlines, creating a more connected daily living environment and making room for a new walk-in pantry. All windows and doors were upgraded to energy-efficient units that enhance natural light and overall performance. The rear addition extends the living area into a bright family room with easy backyard access, while a new stair—placed beside the existing basement stair—creates intuitive circulation between all floors. The second story adds a generous primary suite with en-suite bath, two additional bedrooms, a shared Jack-and-Jill bathroom, and a centrally located laundry and supply room.
The exterior materials reinforce the home’s warm modern character, combining vertical wood cladding, board-and-batten siding, and painted brick for a balanced, textured look. Large black-framed windows complete the updated street presence and bring even more daylight into the interior.
